RAILCATS “SQUEEZE” ONE OVER MILKMEN 3-2
The Milkmen had the chance to win a series on Sunday since each club had won one game each in the three game series. Gary put up a run in the first against Angel Ventura. Derek Reddy attempted to make a diving catch in center field and the ball went under his glove for a triple for the second hitter. Price followed with a base hit and that was the end of scoring for Gary until the fifth.
The Milkmen plated two runs in the top of the second inning as Adam Walker started the inning off with a base hit. Riley Pittman moved him over to third with a ground ball to the second baseman and Walker scored on a double by Dan Ward.
With Gary putting one run up in the fifth, the score was tied after five innings. Gary opened the sixth with a base on balls…after a fly out to CF DeLaCalle moved the runner to third on a single to left. With runners on first and third, Gardner laid down a perfect squeeze bunt to score the third and final run for the Railcats.
Angel Ventura pitched his usual solid game going 5.2 innings and giving up three runs on six hits. The Milkmen were able to generate only five hits against the Railcats pitchers with Dan Ward leading the way with two hits while Adam Walker, Glen McClain and Sam Dexter got one each.
The Milkmen will receive a much deserved day off on Monday. Players are talking about going to the State Fair, seeing the Lion King or playing a round of 18. The club will get back into action with a three game series against the Chicago Dogs.
