Milkmen's Bats go Sour, Ventura Shelled
Milwaukee Milkmen vs Gary SouthShore RailCats
Game 3 of 4
June 26, 2019
Jason Howarth
A warm summer day, perfect for some baseball and the opening of Summerfest in Milwaukee. 95.6 FM Milwaukee’s Hometown Morning Show host Dorene Michaels joined Fireman Jim on the PA.
Unfortunately, the Milkmen weren’t able to deliver for the crowd on Ladies Night. The pain started early for Milwaukee in the first inning with a two run lead by the RailCats. In the third, they extended their lead with four more runs. Including another RBI by designated hitter Colin Willis. Willis finished with three RBIs and a double on the night. The RailCats capped their score in the eighth with another run, giving them a comfy 7-0 lead.
The Milkmen made an attempt to come back in their half of the eighth with three runs batted in, including RBIs by Garrett Copeland and Adam Walker.
Offensive highlights for Milwaukee came from Jose Rosario, who extended his hitting streak to nine games and Adam Walker extending his streak to five.
Angel Ventura was not his usual self on the mound. In the loss, Ventura pitched 3 innings, surrendering five hits, six runs (all earned), three walks and one strikeout. The outing gives Ventura a 2-5 record with a 3.62 ERA.
Kaleb Fontenot was the starter for the RailCats and walked away with his first win of the season. Fontenot pitched 5 1/3 innings, allowing just two hits, no runs, one walk, and three strikeouts.
The Milkmen (16-22) hope to tie up the series in the finale against the RailCats (15-21) at Routine Field on June 27th. Zac Westcott (1-3, 5.80 ERA) will take the mound for Milwaukee with a 7:05 PM first pitch.
