Game 2 of 3

A hot day for baseball and a hot day for the bats. The Milkmen slammed 4 home runs, a first for the team at Routine Field, as well as totaling 14 hits throughout the day game.

Manager Gary McClure said that “Plate patience and being able to take advantage of average opposing pitching is what leads to success with the bats.”

Milwaukee attempted to chip away every inning to keep up with the RailCats. Riley Pittman managed to get the bats going in a big way with a lead-off homer in the bottom of the first (2).

Garrett Copeland (2 run HR), Dan Ward (HR), and Adam Walker (HR) all found the pop in their bats in the second, eighth, and ninth innings.

Derek Heffel made his first professional start, but walks away with the loss. He pitched 4.2 innings, allowing 10 of Gary’s 14 hits, 10 runs (all earned), walking 6 and striking out 4. Heffel moves to 0-2 with a 12.40 ERA.

The Milkmen (27-38) close the series against the RailCats (26-40) on Monday July 29 with a 7:05 pm first pitch.
